Our Curriculum

At The Mease Federation, we pride ourselves on providing our children with a broad and balanced curriculum that caters to pupils between the ages of 3 and 11.  Our Curriculum follows the 2014 National curriculum which gives a framework for learning in all curriculum subject areas through Programmes of Study. These are set out to show the teaching and learning objectives and expected outcomes. Our children study the full curriculum outlined in our Long Term Overview- Cycle A and Cycle B and detailed in our curriculum and pupil flows. It is based on the principle that 'a carefully sequenced curriculum is one that builds on prior knowledge and provides sufficient opportunities for practice, revisiting key concepts over time' (Darling-Hammond et al., 2020; Deans for Impact, 2015).

National Curriculum

Our school motto is Grow and Flourish. This along with our Christian vision of 'The Parable of the Mustard Seed', sits at the heart of our curriculum as we strive to develop our children’s characters. We live out our vision through our values of Koinonia, Wisdom, Love and Perseverance.

By focusing on developing our children's character, we set them up with the belief that 'From very small beginnings, something amazing can grow'. At The Mease Federation, we are aspirational for the future of all our pupils and adults, in that they will learn how to 'Grow and Flourish' as healthy and fulfilled individuals who are passionate about life and learning.

Curriculum Intent Statement

We have created a curriculum that is ambitious and designed to give all our children, particularly the most disadvantaged, the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed. Our curriculum allows our children to gain knowledge as well as the skills they need for future education and later life. Our aim at The Mease Federation is to get all our children ‘high school ready’ and equip them with the skills they need to be citizens of the future.

Our ethos is for all children within our care to be proficient in reading, writing, maths and technology before they leave us. To achieve this we have worked to create a curriculum that also extends beyond the academic and develops their interests and skills. Through carefully planned schemes of work, we provide awe and wonder for our children and try to inspire them to be the best they can be. We believe that high attainment and attitude to learning go hand in hand.
